Opening the Redactions Manager

Open Tools in the header and click Redactions in the bottom row.

Redaction Manager Button

Grouped View

By default, redactions are grouped by their text. Each row shows:

  • Text — the redacted word or phrase

  • Redactions — total count across the project

  • Files — how many files contain this redaction

  • Comment — a shared comment (click to edit)

  • Undo — removes every redaction of this text at once

Click a row to expand it and see the individual instances — which item it appeared in, when it was created, and its own comment. Long text can be expanded in place by clicking Show more.

Individual View

Click the list icon in the top-right to switch to a flat table where every redaction is its own row. This view includes checkbox selection for bulk removal, plus date and item columns.

Editing Comments

Click any comment cell to open an editor. Type your note, then press Enter to save or Escape to cancel.

  • On a grouped row, the comment is applied to all redactions of that word

  • On an expanded child row or in individual view, only that specific redaction is updated

Searching and Sorting

  • Search — filter by redacted text, comment, item subject, or sender

  • Sort — click any column header to sort ascending or descending

  • Paginate — choose 25, 50, or 100 rows per page using the controls in the top-right

Removing Redactions

  • Single: click Undo on any row

  • Entire group: click Undo on a grouped row to remove all instances of that word

  • Bulk (individual view): check multiple rows, then click Remove N selected

Changes are reflected immediately in the email list, sidebar stats, and PDF viewer.

Exporting

Click the download icon in the title bar to export all redactions as a CSV file — useful for compliance records or audit trails.
